Dorji Lopen administers Chenrizi blessing to people of Lingzhi, Thimphu

The Dorji Lopen of Zhung Dratshang administered a Chenrizi blessing to the people of Lingzhi Dungkhag in Thimphu today at the newly-renovated Lingzhi Dzong. A Zhabdrung Phuensum Tshogpa Thongdrol was also unfurled in the Dzong. People from various places in the dungkhag came to receive blessings and offer prayers, some riding horses and some walking for hours.

Elderly people and children who cannot walk came riding horses to receive the blessings. Likewise, some residents have walked for hours to participate in the ceremony. For instance, 71-year-old Ugyen Tenzin from Gangyuel village woke up in the wee hours and started walking towards the venue at 4 this morning.

Ugyen Tenzin, a resident from Gangyuel “Although our village is far from the dzong, we are eager to receive blessings from the Dorji Lopen. Most of the people are excited to receive it. As distance between our village and the dzong is quite long, we woke up between 1 am to 2 AM prepared our lunch and came to get blessings from Dorji Lopen.”

With most places located in remote areas, people said they have been waiting for such opportunities to get blessed.

Tenzin Wangda, a resident from Chebisa said “We reached here yesterday itself to camp here as our village is far from here and we thought that we will not be able to reach here when the blessings begin.”

Sangay Chenzom, a resident, Shayuel said “I am really happy and I came here early in the morning by 4 am to get the blessings. Some people with difficulty in walking reached here yesterday itself some came riding on the horse in the morning.”

Besides the blessings, the Dorji Lopen also bestowed oral transmission of Mani, Banzaguru and Chabdro to the devotees.

According to the Lingzhi Lam, the programme will benefit the people.

Chencho, Lingzhi Lam said “In the capital, the people get opportunities to receive blessing. But in Lingzhi as all the people are from remote areas, they hardly get any blessing. Therefore, Chenrizi Wang was administered. Likewise, the Mani, Bazaguru, and Chabdro oral transmission will immensely benefit the people.”

The Dorji Lopen will preside over the consecration ceremony of the renovated Lingzhi Dzong tomorrow. The renovation work was started in 2018 after an earthquake severely damage the dzong in 2011.
